This garden area contains one of our rarest plants, the Franklinia tree. The
native Franklinia tree has not been documented in the wild since early in
the 19th
century. A variety of spring ephemerals (Virginia Blue Bells, Celandine
Poppies, Columbine…) in a vast array of colors compliment the native
dogwoods and red buckeye plants. This is a classic example of woodland
understory planting.
